Today I'm sharing a FREE Canva Moodboard template to download and have fun with!
One fall morning, I was sitting in my ‘Introduction to Interior Design' class at LSU, and the professor was teaching us the basics of color theory.
“In the visual arts, color theory is a body of practical guidance to color mixing and the visual effects of a specific color combination.”
I was amazed, and started learning everything I could about color palettes, color stories, color theories and anything color related.
Fast forward to today, I absolutely love sharing color inspiration and helping my clients choose their unique brand color palette.
I being every single project by creating a Moodboard. For my website templates as well as custom design projects, the Moodboard I create (sometimes called a Brand Board or Inspiration Board) will set the tone for the entire project.
A moodboard will define the exact color palette that will be used in all of your branding, including: your logo, secondary logos or submarks, website colors, email signatures, newsletter templates, and even social media marketing.
During this pandemic, I know that so many of you are starting on a new project or transitioning in your current business. If you're feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to begin- I encourage you to create a moodboard to inspire and motivate you.
Whether you are just getting started with your business, or simply wanting a brand refresh- creating a Moodboard is the first step to doing so.
*Tip: Moodboards can be used for many other things besides your brand. Are you developing a digital course that will need it's own color scheme? Are you designing and decorating a room in your home that needs a makeover? Do you want an inspirational, on-brand collage to hang in your office? Get creative- these moodboards can apply to so many things in life that will inspire you!
I've created a free canva Moodboard template (seen above) for you to use to create your very own moodboard! If you don't have a free canva account yet, you can sign up here.
You will need to first make a copy of this template to use on your own account.
Open up Canva, and at the top left of your screen, go to:
FILE -> MAKE A COPY
and that's it!
Now you can start uploading and replacing the images and colors on the moodboard to make it your own! I love to browse pinterest and free stock photography websites for my moodboard inspiration.
To save and/or share your moodboard, click on the down arrow at the top right of your screen, and under ‘Download', select the .PNG option in the dropwodn and hit the download button.
I hope you have fun creating your moodboard, and I'd love to see what you create!
